How to get here

YHA Boswinger is in a rural location and public transport is relatively limited, so please come prepared to take advantage of this beautiful area and experience life at a slower pace.

Our tip is to pick up supplies en route, so you can spend more of your stay relaxing with lovely views and beach walks, safe in the knowledge that you have all you need to cook an evening meal! The nearest large supermarkets are in St Austell. There is a smaller Co-op at Pentewan, a smaller shop in Mevagissey, and small village stores in Gorran Haven and Gorran Churchtown. Lobbs Farmshop around 4 miles away at the Lost Gardens of Helligan offers high-quality produce.

By car: From the A390 (St Austell) take the B3273 towards Mevagissey. After 5 miles turn right at the top of the hill and follow the signs for Gorran. After 4 miles, fork right to Boswinger (follow the brown tourist signs). The hostel is situated in Boswinger hamlet just below the Seaview International campsite. We don’t recommend driving through Mevagissey in summer as the road through the village is very narrow and steep and can easily get blocked.

By train: The nearest train station is in St Austell, 10.5 miles away.

By bus: Gorran Community Bus can be booked by email the night before you travel at [email protected]. This volunteer-run service can pick you up from the hostel car park and bring you back from a range of local destinations including Mevagissey, Truro, St Austell and Plymouth (depending on the day's route).

Travel Cornwall operates service 23 a few times a day between St Austell and Gorran Churchtown, which is a 1.5 mile walk from the hostel. Service 29 runs St Austell to Mevagissey once an hour on weekdays. Operators and timetables may vary and there are no services on Sundays or Bank Holidays, so it is recommended to look for the most up-to-date information at www.travelcornwall.uk.com.
