How to get here

By foot: From Whitby town, follow the signs towards the Abbey, go up the 199 steps, through the churchyard and continue across the turning area, going right under the archway by the Lodge House. Follow the driveway and Abbey wall under a second archway at the left side of the Abbey Visitor Centre to find the hostel.

By car: Follow road signs to the Abbey, up Green Lane (from Whitby town, North and West) or Hawsker Lane (from Scarborough and Robin Hood’s Bay). With the main car park to your left, continue straight ahead, following the Abbey wall past the Brewery on the right. As you approach the turning area, keep left under the archway and follow the driveway alongside the Abbey wall, go under a second archway and park in the courtyard. Due to the two archways, there is no access for larger buses and coaches but groups can be dropped off in the turning area and then coach spaces are available in the main car park (charges apply from March to November).
