A hostel in or near the university town was a constant dream of the local YHA committee, so YHA opened the Borth hostel in 1952, making it very popular with school groups. Over the years, Borth hostel has had many ‘sparkling’ improvements such as decoration and expansion due to its popularity.
Manager recommends: Time it right and you’ll see the petrified forest at low tide on Borth beach, about 300 metres from the front of the hostel towards Ynys–Las sand dunes. The Ynyslas and Ynys Hir nature reserves, Nant Yr Arian Forestry Centre and the world renowned Centre for Alternative Technology are all nearby - ideal for school trips. Four miles of sands just 20 metres from the hostel make this great for a cheap UK family beach break in Wales.
