Nestled in the Mendips, with the world famous Cheddar Gorge just a few minutes' walk away, this large, characterful Victorian house and accompanying annexe makes the perfect short break destination for families, individuals and groups.
The youth hostel makes a great base for an exciting activity break and exciting activities for all abilities are provided by our partners Mendip Outdoor Pursuits. If high octane adventures aren't your thing, you can take it easier with some wonderful local walks and cycle routes, or travel to the nearby cities of Bath and Bristol.
Reception opening hours: From 08:00 - 10:00 and 17:00 - 20:30.
Food and drink: Breakfast is served to guests daily from 07:30 – 09:00.
Licensed bar: This hostel has a licensed bar offering a range of alcohol and soft drinks. It is not possible for guests to bring their own alcohol, except when hiring the whole hostel through YHA Exclusive Hire.
Self-catering: Guests have access to a self-catering kitchen.
Parking: There is some parking available in the hostel's small car park. Coaches can park nearby on 'The Hayes'.
WiFi: Free WiFi is available in shared social spaces.
Dogs: Pets are not permitted at YHA Cheddar. Assistance dogs are welcome - please notify us at the time of booking.

YHA Cheddar was bought by YHA in 1960 from a YHA employee that originally ran the hostel with their family. The hostel has had many improvements over the years, including an annex in the garden and changes to the dorms.
