YHA National Forest is a quirky, eco-friendly hostel which offers quality en-suite accommodation next door to the Conkers visitor centre, making it an ideal spot for those looking to escape from it all with family and friends on an activity break.

Across the entire building there is a total of 23 bedrooms.

Ground floor

Three en-suite rooms that sleep up to 3 people each. They include a single high-sleeper bunk with a double bed underneath.

Two en-suite rooms that sleep up to 4 people each. They include 2 sets of bunk beds.

First floor

Six en-suite rooms that sleep up to 3 people each. They include a single high-sleeper bunk with a double bed underneath.

Ten en-suite rooms that sleep up to 4 people each. They include 2 sets of bunk beds.

Two en-suite rooms that sleep up to 5 people each. They include a high sleeper bunk with a double bed underneath and a set of bunk beds.

A cot is available.

Kitchen and dining

The kitchen is located on the ground floor and includes a range of conveniences listed below.

Kitchen appliances: grill, kettle, microwave, oven, refrigerator, stove, toaster, tumble dryer, washing machine.

Kitchenware: dishes and cutlery for 85 people, kitchen utensils, pots, pans.

Cooking basics: oil, salt and pepper, tomato sauce, brown sauce.

Cleaning basics: anti-bacterial spray, bin bags, cloths, paper towels, soap, sponges, tea towels, washing up liquid.

Located on the ground floor, the dining room seats up to 50 people.

A highchair is available.

Lounge

The small lounge is located on the ground floor and seats up to 14 people across soft seating and laptop-friendly work stations.

Across the entire building there is a total of 23 bathrooms.

Towels and toiletries: Hand soap is provided next to all sinks. Towels are not supplied as standard.

Dogs: Hire YHA National Forest and bring your dogs! Add a dog to your booking at the checkout and bring your four-legged friend along with you. Dogs are not permitted in the bedrooms, on the furniture or in the kitchen, and must be kept on a lead in the grounds.

With Conkers Discovery Centre and the family-friendly activities of Rosliston Forestry Centre next door, we make a great choice for schools discovering the great outdoors. You could also have a day out at Twycross Zoo or learn industrial secrets at the Moira Furnace. Fans of Derbyshire’s amazing walking routes will find the Ashby Trail nearby and cyclists of all abilities are spoilt for choice.

Sleeping arrangements

Most of our bedrooms are dormitory style rooms with bunk beds. We always try to allocate bedrooms close together and will never ask your group to share bedrooms with anyone not in your group.

Upgrades are available for sole use of an area, floor or the entire place.

Shared spaces

Schools and other groups can relax in our extensive grounds and use our well-equipped meeting room to study. You’ll find facilities like a projector and speaker plus a whiteboard and flipchart to make plans. We’ve got great on-site facilities for cycling groups and there’s free Wi-Fi, TV and games to keep you busy too.

Group catering

With tasty breakfasts, packed lunches and evening meals, groups are sure to find something delicious to eat at YHA National Forest (see sample menu).

Meal plans range from bed and breakfast up to full-board catering. Vegetarian options are available and we aim to cater for any special dietary requests.
