Wellbeing social walk from YHA Okehampton

YHA Okehampton exterior

Overview

Sunday 22nd September 2024 and Monday 7th October 2024

Distance: 1.8 miles

Duration: 1 hour

Led by: Caroline Cornford and Chris Baines, Okehampton Ramblers Wellbeing Walks

Explore the delights of Simmons Park, and in particular the constant burble of its water gardens and the singing of birds, which makes it a particularly lovely area to walk in. We also see the special wooded area along the Tramline, which was originally constructed in 1820 to carry granite up to the station from a small quarry, but today is a marvellous local walk.

This walk is relatively easy going with some inclines, gates and uneven terrain. There will be ample opportunity to take a break and chat about the many points of local historical interest. It is not suitable for wheelchair users.
