Expect a warm welcome from the moment you step through the door. Whether you’re travelling alone or as part of a group, we want your stay with us to memorable for all the right reasons. Each hostel is different but the overall vibe is the same. And by booking to stay with us, you’re also helping us work towards our charitable objective of ensuring that everybody has the opportunity to connect to nature, heritage and the great outdoors.

Our hostels are kept clean thanks to our own hostel team who are responsible for the day to day running of the building. If you have any questions or feedback then please let them know at your earliest opportunity.

Your safety and wellbeing is our number one priority at YHA. Many of our hostels have CCTV in common areas, locker storage as well as 24-hour reception plus key card access to your room. 

We want your holiday to feel home away from home and our guest satisfaction is incredibly important to us.

Yes! No one hostel is alike and therefore there’s somewhere for everyone. Solo travellers love our shared single-gender rooms although there’s nothing stopping you from booking a private room for yourself if you prefer. 

Private rooms, which often come with an ensuite, are perfect for couples or families who want to stay together. And if you want to bring everyone with you then why not look at hiring the whole hostel?!

It doesn’t matter if you’re 18 or 80 – everyone is welcome in a YHA hostel. Whilst our full name is the Youth Hostel Association, we welcome guests of all ages for a home away from home stay in our hostels.

Yes you can. Many of our hostels offer private rooms as well as dorm rooms. Check individual hostel listings for more details of our private room offers.

You are more than welcome to book accommodation in whatever configuration suits you all best for up to 16 people. 

If there are more than 16 people in your party we’d consider that to be a group booking and want to offer you further support with all the logistics that come with a large booking. 

YHA offers an ‘All you can eat’ breakfast which includes:

• Sausage
• Bacon
• Eggs
• Hash browns
• Tomatoes 
• Beans 

Continental options include fresh fruit, cereal, yogurt and pastries. There are also plenty of vegetarian and vegan options to get stuck into. Better still, drinks are included too.

Or for a lighter start, you can buy our unlimited continental breakfast separately. Choose from a selection of pastries, yoghurt, cereal, Yorkshire tea, coffee and juice.

Under 10s eat for just £1 with our special offer. Members get 10% off the cost of breakfast if you pre-book it at the same time you book your accommodation.

Alternatively, if you’d prefer to do your own thing, you are welcome to bring your own food to cook up a storm in one of our well equipped self-catering kitchens. 

Pets are not allowed in hostel bedrooms or kitchens with the exception of Assistance Dogs, which are welcome at any YHA site free of charge. Please let us know if you plan to bring an assistance dog during the booking process. 

Dogs are welcome to stay at many of our Camping & Cabins sites. There is a charge of £10 per dog per night in our Camping & Cabins accommodation. It is free to bring your dog if you are sleeping in your own tent. Up to two dogs are permitted per booking.

Dogs are also welcome to stay at many of our Exclusive Hire sites. There is a charge of £50 per dog for the duration of your stay. Up to four dogs are permitted per booking.

Many YHA hostels offer off-street parking. Some of this is chargeable. Other hostels have limited on street parking just outside the hostel itself or parking in nearby car parks. 

If you’re coming by car, please make sure you check with your individual hostel for up to date parking arrangements before you set off. 

Over 36 YHA hostels offer accessible accommodation which may make them suitable for wheelchair users and people with mobility impairments although this does vary hostel to hostel. 

This is largely due to the fact that each hostel is different and therefore presents its own challenges when it comes to making them accessible to all.

You are welcome to bring your own bike when you stay at a YHA hostel. 

Depending on the hostel, some offer secure bike storage where you can have peace of mind that they’re locked away when not in use. Alternatively you can lock up your bike on site. 

We know that it matters to be able to have somewhere safe to store your luggage if you arrive early or are departing later. 

Luggage may be stored depending on space at the hostel. Some hostels offer paid locker storage. And some can even store your bike too. Please check with your individual hostel for more details.
