National Trail social walk from YHA Boggle Hole

YHA Boggle Hole exterior

Overview

Wednesday 18th September 2024

Distance: 7.7 miles

Duration: 4 - 5 hours

Led by: Malcolm Hodgson, Cleveland Way National Trail Officer

This is a classic walk that demands a reasonable level of fitness. We enjoy some wonderful coastal scenery as we leave Boggle Hole and head up along the Cleveland Way/King Charles III England Coast Path towards Ravenscar. On the way we pass the Peak Alum works to reach Ravenscar, a planned Victorian resort that was never fully built, and a pause at the National Trust visitor centre.

The Cinder Track is our return route, a former railway line providing a steady descent to Robin Hoods Bay with outstanding coastal views. We rejoin the Cleveland Way and drop down to the beautiful and tucked away YHA Boggle Hole.

The walk has no stiles, but it does have a number of steps. Dogs are welcome but must stay on a short lead at all times. Children must be accompanied by an adult and be physically able to do the walk.
