Inspire and immerse pupils in history as they discover Britain through the ages on a YHA field trip.
An important factor of teaching history is enabling pupils to have an understanding beyond the simple facts and figures, of the historical events, people and places that shaped where and who we are today. What better way to achieve this than through the first-hand experience offered by a history field trip?
Explore the recreated Celtic village at YHA Castleton Losehill Hall and get hands on with authentic weapons and shields. Become time detectives and trace a timeline of the city from past to present when you stay at YHA York. Uncover hidden medieval secrets by staying the night at our very own castle, YHA St Briavels.
Whether it is AQA, EDXCEL, OCR or Eduqas, or a self-led or tutored opportunity you are looking for, we probably have more great history options available than you think! Filled with opportunities to gain hands-on learning experiences in unique historical settings, our history school trips are designed to inspire and involve pupils as they discover Britain through the ages. They’re great value for money too!
Inspiration for your next history field trip
Explore a Celtic village
Pupils can explore the recreated Celtic village at YHA Castleton Losehill Hall and get hands on with authentic weapons and shields. The village of Castleton dates back 900 years, and was built around Peveril Castle by William Peveril, son of William the conqueror and has much of its medieval grid pattern and town ditch still intact and preserved.
Stay in a real Norman castle
Uncover hidden medieval secrets by staying the night in a real Norman castle, YHA St Briavels. As King John’s former hunting lodge, we are uniquely placed to offer this experience within a living reminder of the King and one of the most important pieces of history to shape our society.
Travel through time in a city
Become time detectives and trace a timeline of the city from past to present when you stay at YHA York. Travel in time at JORVIK Viking Centre, ride on rockets at the National Railway Museum, or be inspired by the beautiful York Minster. Our package is great for groups wanting to explore York through the ages and makes a great local history study, tracing several aspects of national history before and after 1066.
