Watersports in Shropshire
Great for canoeing on the River Severn. Bring your own canoe and spend a day on the water. Don't forget your picnic!
A stunning, Grade I listed Elizabethan manor in the heart of the Shropshire countryside, YHA Wilderhope Manor is one of YHA’s most visually striking properties. If you're looking for a family holiday, walking break or trip to the countryside for a larger group, this hostel offers a truly unforgettable experience in a historic, beautiful setting.
YHA Wilderhope Manor is in a perfect location for day trips to the stunning Carding Mill Valley, historic Ironbridge Gorge, Bridgnorth Cliff Railway and the towns of Shrewsbury and Ludlow. Further afield is the Severn Valley Railway, West Midlands Safari Park and adventures into North Wales.
This hostel is available on an Exclusive Hire basis only, so you'll get the entire place to yourself.
History lovers, school trips and walking groups are spoilt for choice with a stay at YHA Wilderhope Manor. This Elizabethan manor is within reach of the Acton Scott Victorian Farm and the Ironbridge Gorge Museums – not to mention it’s an architectural marvel in itself.
With the glorious Shropshire countryside just outside, it’s easy to immerse yourself in our area. Take a hike to the Cardingmill Valley (5,000 acres of heather-covered hills and amazing wildlife) or try our fun on-site team-building activities – the possibilities are endless!
Most of our bedrooms are dormitory style rooms with bunk beds. We always try to allocate bedrooms close together and will never ask your group to share bedrooms with anyone not in your group.
Upgrades are available for sole use of an area, floor or the entire place.
YHA Wilderhope Manor offers great facilities like an impressive ground floor dining room, large lounge and dedicated meeting room (complete with projector). Groups also have full use of the extensive grounds.
This hostel is popular for functions, so treat your school residential or walking group to a bit of luxury. You can dine in the Great Hall and there are breathtaking views right from our doorstep.
With tasty breakfasts, packed lunches and evening meals, groups are sure to find something delicious to eat at YHA Wilderhope Manor (see sample menu).
