1. Policy for bringing dogs on to YHA’s premises

1.1 Please read this policy carefully as it explains the terms on which you may bring a dog on to YHA’s or YHA Partners’ premises.

1.2 Neither we nor YHA Partners can allow dogs to enter on to all of our or YHA Partner premises and you should check the list below, before making a booking, to confirm whether or not you may bring your dog with you, when staying at or visiting our or a YHA Partner’s premises:

• Dogs are permitted to stay in YHA Camping & Cabins products, excluding YHA Castleton Losehill Hall, YHA Exford, YHA Idwal Cottage.
• Dogs are permitted to stay in guests' own tents for pitch-up camping, excluding YHA Castleton Losehill Hall, YHA Exford, YHA Hawes, YHA Idwal Cottage.
• Dogs are permitted to stay at YHA as well as at a number of our locations when these hostels are used for Exclusive Hire, excluding YHA Alnwick, YHA Alston, YHA Beverley Friary, YHA Bridges, YHA Broad Haven, YHA Castleton Losehill Hall, YHA Cheddar, YHA Elmscott Bunkhouse, YHA Gower, YHA Hawes, YHA Idwal Cottage, YHA Ingleton, YHA Kettlewell, YHA Kings, YHA Littlehampton, YHA Malham, YHA Minehead, YHA National Forest, YHA Newport Pembrokeshire, YHA Osmotherley, YHA Poppit Sands, YHA Pwll Deri, YHA Scarborough, YHA Skiddaw Bunkhouse, YHA St Briavels Castle, YHA Wooler.

1.3 We may update the above list from time to time and you should check this each time you intend to make a booking with us or a YHA Partner.

1.4 When staying as part of a Camping and Cabin booking or an Exclusive Hire Booking, dogs are permitted in the public areas within the Hostel (except in kitchens) or camping barns. Dogs are not permitted on beds, furniture or in hostel bedrooms. 

1.5 All dogs must be kept on a short lead (6 feet or less) and under control at all times including in external areas.

1.6 When booking Camping and Cabins all dogs are charged at £5 per dog per night excluding camping (pitch up), payment for dogs will be due on arrival.  

1.7 When booking Exclusive Hire, all dogs are charged at £30 per dog per stay. Payment is due in advance in line with agreed payment schedule.

1.8 We and the YHA Partners can accept a maximum of 2 dogs per Camping and Cabin booking and a maximum of 4 dogs per Exclusive Hire booking.

1.9 You are fully responsible for your dog at all times and for cleaning up after your dog. All dog faeces must be cleared up immediately and disposed of appropriately.

1.10 Any damage to our or YHA Partners property caused by your dog will need to be paid for by you.

1.11 You must not leave your dog unattended at any time within our accommodation, any vehicle and/or the Hostel grounds.

1.12 If your dog is deemed to be a nuisance or danger to other Hostel guests or staff, we have the right to request you to remove the dog from our premises immediately. You must comply with this request and if you fail to do so, we may ask you to leave our premises and cancel the remainder of your booking. 

1.13 We and the YHA Partners do not accept liability for any loss, damage or illness to dogs.

1.14 Dogs should be fully inoculated, micro-chipped and have had veterinary health check.

1.15 You will need to bring your own equipment (bowls, bed, poop bags, food, etc) as neither we nor the YHA Partners provide these.

1.16 We and the YHA Partners do accept highly trained assistance dog at all YHA sites. You must notify us and/or the relevant YHA Partner at the time of booking if you wish to bring a highly trained assistance dog. The highly trained assistance dog can stay with us or a YHA Partner free of charge.
