Mill owner Sir Titus Salt moved his mill to a 'green field' site and built an entire village for his textile workers. Salt provided everything: neat stone cottages, almshouses, school, shops, institute, wash houses, hospital, churches and a park. Guided walks are available which include a souvenir heritage map. The old mill weaving shed, has been transformed into an art gallery to house works of Bradford born artist, David Hockney.
