Perfect for complete beginners or those wanting to refresh their skills, this basic navigation skills day in the Peak District will leave you feeling ready to explore new areas with confidence.
Skills covered include learning how to set your map (so you walk in the correct direction!), recognising map features, introduction to using a compass and route planning (working out distances and timings) and helping you to plan your own walking routes
There will be a ‘map chat’ at the start and plenty of stops for us to teach the skills and for you to practice. We will be sticking to footpaths and trails, some of which are likely to be rocky, muddy and possibly a bit slippery underfoot (depending on the weather) and will include a degree of up and downhill. Please bring a packed lunch, water and suitable kit/clothing.
