Located on the quayside beside the river Tweed, YHA Berwick is a unique hostel with a Tower of Pisa-like lean! The hostel is well-situated for walking, cycling and beach-based activities, as well as trips to towns both north and south of the border, including both Newcastle-upon-Tyne and Edinburgh.
It also has the Granary Bistro, a café and restaurant-come-event hosting venue, and a spot which allows like-minded visitors to chat over a drink or a bite to eat.
Culture lovers, school trips and groups will love staying at YHA Berwick – a fascinating building with a lean bigger than the Tower of Pisa! How about a day out to Lindisfarne or a day in the town’s museums? You could even head north to Edinburgh or south to Newcastle-upon-Tyne.
Berwick-upon-Tweed is ideal for study groups, offering the Lowry trail for art lovers and the historic Elizabethan town walls. Most of our bedrooms are dormitory style rooms with bunk beds. We always try to allocate bedrooms close together and will never ask your group to share bedrooms with anyone not in your group.
Upgrades are available for sole use of an area, floor or the entire place.

Manager recommends: Northumberland is a hidden gem – there’s beaches and castles, history, and culture. The Old Town is surrounded by the largest medieval walls built during the reign of Elizabeth I, and has castle ruins and a Garrison building built to help defend England from the Scots. Slightly further afield there’s Lindisfarne and St. Abbs (Little Asgard), the Farne Islands and Edinburgh. Wildlife is abundant there, with seals and others and dolphins often spotted in the river and sea.
