Situated a top of the Honister Pass at 1,167ft, YHA Honister Hause provides a great base for those looking to enjoy an all action holiday, with many options for walking, cycling, climbing or paddling right on the doorstep. The hostel is also perfect for a relaxing off-grid gathering so you can disconnect from the modern world and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
This former quarry workers' house is in true mountain country with easy access to England’s highest peaks. Steep valleys stretch down from the mountains to Derwentwater and Buttermere to create a beautiful and distinctive landscape.There’s a 400-year-old working slate mine next door which is home to the world-famous Westmorland Green Slate as well as plenty of other areas for guests to enjoy. The hostel has good public transport links and car access so you can start exploring straight away.

Self-catering: YHA Honister Hause is self-catering only. Guests have access to a kitchen.
Parking: The hostel car park has space for up to six cars. The nearby National Trust car park is free overnight if staying in the hostel, but pay and display during the day for non-National Trust members.
Dogs: Pets are not permitted at YHA Honister Hause, except when hiring the whole hostel through YHA Exclusive Hire. Assistance dogs are welcome – please notify us at the time of booking.
