The Langdon Beck youth hostel, situated in the county of Durham, opened its doors in 1938 but came to a dramatic end on 1st November 1958 due to the building catching fire and being demolished. Rebuilding work began soon after and the current YHA Langdon Beck officially opened in 1965, proving great success all year round.
Manager recommends: Langdon Beck is England's highest youth hostel! In a splendid position close to the Cow Green Nature Reserve with excellent routes nearby, the hostel is perfect for cycling holidays and walking holidays. This lovely, rural retreat is a great spot for family Northumberland holidays or activity breaks.
