Originally a lifeboat station, YHA Port Eynon is a wonderful Gower Peninsula accommodation base. The hostel offers bright and airy social spaces with breath-taking views across the bay. Great for family holidays.

Ground floor

One en-suite room that sleeps up to 4 people. It includes 2 sets of bunk beds

One room that sleeps up to 3 people. It includes a single high-sleeper bunk with a double bed underneath.

One en-suite room that sleeps up to 5 people. It includes 2 sets of bunk beds and a single truckle bed.

First floor

Three rooms that sleep up to 2 people each. They include a set of bunk beds.

One room that sleeps up to 4 people. It includes 2 sets of bunk beds.

One room that sleeps up to 6 people. It includes 2 sets of bunk beds and a double bed.

The kitchen is located on the ground floor and has lovely sea views. It includes a range of conveniences listed below.

Kitchen appliances: grill, 2 kettles, microwave, oven, refrigerator, stove, 2 toasters, wood stove.

Kitchenware: dishes and cutlery for 30 people, kitchen utensils, pots, pans.

Cleaning basics: anti-bacterial spray, cloths, paper towels, soaps, sponges, tea towels, washing up liquid.

Located on the ground floor, the dining room seats up to 24 people across 6 tables.

A highchair is available.

Lounge

The lounge area is located on the ground floor in the dining room. There are 3 comfy sofas, 2 armchairs and a selection of books, puzzles and board games. You can take in the sea view or cosy up by the log burner in the winter months.

Across the entire building there is a total of four bathrooms.

History

Formerly a lifeboat station which was open in 1834, in response to the many shipwrecks in this busy part of the Bristol Channel. The station operated until 1919, when it was closed and replaced by a station in Mumbles. The building appears to have had many uses from a tea shop to a boatbuilders shed until it was gifted to the YHA by the Penrice estate in 1951. There is evidence of local industries, quarrying , salt extraction and oyster farming, plus the mysterious Culver Hole is just around the corner. The surrounding country is managed by the Nastional Trust, and there are numerous walks of varying lengths from the hostel.

Manager recommends: The best part of working at YHA Port Eynon is the location! We recommend the walks and beaches in Gower, however, it is only a short bus ride to Swansea for swimming and games at the leisure centre on a wet day alongside museums and art galleries. Gower Heritage Centre in Parkmill is a pleasant afternoon excursion.
