Walking & Rambling
Try the high level traverse under Pillar Rock up to the summit of Pillar and along the ridge to Black Sail pass with spectacular views of Scafell and Great Gable.
Best Walk from the Ramblers: From this most remote of hostels, head up Scarth Gap and over the top of Haystacks. After Blackbeck Tarn, head south east to Brandreth and join the path to the summit of Great Gable. Ensure you're properly prepared and you'll be rewarded with a spectacular mountain panorama.
Mountain Biking
Travel light and bike up to YHA Black Sail before conquering two of the toughest lakeland passes - Scarth Gap and Black Sail Pass. These both offer stunning views of the Ennerdale valley and Wasdale.
Cycling
Get out and about on your bike and enjoy the landscape. Whether it’s hill or valley you want to explore, you can ride as far as your legs will allow you.
